Robert Yates Racing Enter Pocono Raceway this NASCAR Sunday on a Sad Note

NASCAR's Robert Yates Racing will let Elliott Sadler go.

Apparently, the team is letting Elliott Sadler out of his contract at the end of the NASCAR season, the team said on its Web site.

It's another blow for the Yates team, which also will lose longtime driver Dale Jarrett and sponsor UPS to Michael Waltrip's team at the end of the season.

''We would like to thank Elliott for his commitment to our organization over the past four seasons and for all the success we've enjoyed together,'' team owner Robert Yates said in a statement.

''We are excited about the opportunity to find a new driver who will continue the successful run of the No. 38 Ford as we maintain our focus on the future of our organization,'' he adds.

The team said Sadler asked to be released.

Sadler, 31, won two races with the Yates team in the 2004 NASCAR Season. But he has only four top-10 finishes this season and enters Sunday's race at Pocono Raceway 20th in the NASCAR Nextel Cup standings.

The team said it already has begun searching for a new driver for Sadler's car for 2007.

''Our objective this year is to finish the season on a strong note,'' said Doug Yates, Robert's son and an executive with the team. ''It is our goal to continue to build this team so we will be better positioned next season to contend for the championship.''

Can Elliott Sadler win Pocono Raceway for Robert Yates Racing? Here are more odds from Bodog on this Sunday's big NASCAR event:

Elliott Sadler 45/1

Dale Earnhardt Jr. 15/1

Jeff Gordon 12/1

Tony Stewart 7/1
