Struggling Rams visit Cowboys County on NFL Sunday

The Rams are 0-3 and things won't get better on Sunday when they take on the still undefeated Cowboys in Dallas.

In what should be a lopsided battle between the best team in the NFC and the worst team of the same conference, the St. Louis Rams try to get in the win column against Tony Romo, Terrell Owens and the rest of the red-hot Cowboys on Sunday.

The Rams continue to struggle in this 2007-08 NFL football season, Rams RB Steven Jackson just got blitzed by a left groin injury that could have him out for a week, at least.

Steven Jackson, after struggling for the third straight week, left last Sunday's 24-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a partial tear on his left groin. He is now ruled out for their next Sunday's dance with the Dallas Cowboys.

How bad has this season been for these guys? After losing Orlando Pace, the seven-time Pro Bowl tackle that clears the lanes for the Rams RBs, in the very first game of the football year with a season-ending shoulder injury, they lost Steven Jackson a day after losing guard Mark Setterstrom, who is also now out for the remainder of what should be an already lost season.

St. Louis Rams quarterback Marc Bulger is the only star left playing for St. Louis. Bulger is playing with bruised ribs and you just know that the Rams just can't afford to lose this guy too.

We all saw that last Sunday in Tampa where the Rams just played conservatively and tried everything that they can to protect Bulger and those broken ribs. The Rams lost again to go 0-3 but at least they still have their only remaining star healthy.

On Sunday, expect the Dallas Cowboys to destroy any hope the St. Louis Rams still have.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish try to get in Win Column Saturday

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish continue to struggle.

After four weeks into the 2007-08 NCAA college football season, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have already set a milestone that they can't possible be proud of.

For the first time in their 119 years of playing college football, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are a perfect 0-4. That's despite the fact that they got to the end zone, TWICE, against a team they normally would just beat all over the field, the Michigan State Spartans.

On Saturday, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will be trying to snap their losing streak to welcome the brand new football year against the Purdue Boilermakers. That or we could very well see the Irish go 0-5 for the first time in their 119 seasons in the league.

Against the Spartans last Saturday, the Fighting Irish scored in each of the first two quarters of their game at Notre Dame Stadium. That, however, would be the last thing they would be able to do against Michigan State as the Irish will get virtually BLANKED in the second half.

End result? Michigan State Spartans beat the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 31-14.

For what it's worth, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are already putting last Saturday's horrendous loss behind them and get ready for the Purdue Boilermakers next Saturday.

''Records to me is not the critical factor,'' Notre Dame Fighting Irish head coach Charlie Weis said. ''I'll critically evaluate this game and get ready for Purdue.''

Immortal Brett Favre takes on LaDainian Tomlinson Sunday

Brett Favre just became the winningnest QB in NFL football history last Sunday. This Sunday, he will try to outrun a rampaging bull.

It seems not even father time can stop the great Green Bay Packers leader, Brett Favre. Favre, with his win over the Giants last Sunday, is now the winningnest QB in NFL history.

Yes, the first milestone of the 2007-08 NFL football season belongs to Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre after scoring his 149th career win from a 35-13 trashing of the still struggling New York Giants.

The New York Giants used all three quarterbacks on their depth chart and none of them was able to stop Favre's pursuit of a milestone that Sunday. Eli Manning did play despite nursing an injury. But after he used up all 211 yards he could muster, the Giants played Jared Lorenzen and Anthony Wright.

Favre's quest for three more milestones held by Dan Marino continues this 2007-08 NFL football season. One of which is becoming the all-time leader in passing yards held by Marino who has 61,361. Favre currently has 57,992.

Brett Favre is also three more touchdowns away from tying Dan Marino for the most TD passes by a quarterback in NFL history. Marino has 420 while Favre has 417. Marino's 8,358 pass attempts, the most in NFL history, is on the brink of being overtaken by Favre too. Favre has 8,304 now and without any solid tailback backing him up, you can expect Favre's pass attempts to go up.

But for now, Brett Favre would have to outrun a rampaging bull, that being LaDainian Tomlinson as the San Diego Chargers pay visit to legendary Lambaeu Field.

The Green Bay Packers are 2-0 for the first time in the last couple of years while the San Diego Chargers, after an MVP season from their star running back LaDainian Tomlinson, are struggling at 1-1.

This game on Sunday could tell us either of the two things, would there be a storybook ending to the career of the immortal Brett Favre or will LaDainian Tomlinson and the rest of the Chargers pick up where they left off last season?

There's only one way to find out.

Alabama Crimson Tide VS Georgia Bulldogs Saturday

The Georgia Bulldogs will face their toughest test yet this college football season when they take on the red hot Crimson Tide of Alabama.

The Alabama Crimson Tide have finally ascended back to the Top 25 this 2007-08 NCAA college football season. Thanks of course to former Miami Dolphins head coach, Nick Saban.

Nick Saban, then coaching the Miami Dolphins, denied rumors that he was to sign a contract with the Alabama Crimson Tide and go back to his roots, that being college football.

For weeks, Nick Saban continued to deny the rumors that he was about to leave the Miami Dolphins as it was then, and STILL is today, in disarray without anyone bold enough to give the team some semblance of direction.

And just before the 2007-08 NCAA college football began, we found out that Nick Saban, after weeks of denying the rumors that he will sign with the Alabama Crimson Tide, signed after all.

Now, we see Nick Saban being able to coach a team back to the upper echelons of college football. The Alabama Crimson Tide are now ranked the No.16 team in the nation. That's the first time the Crimson Tide got back to the Top 25 since the final poll of the 2005 season.

On Saturday, the red hot Crimson Tide will play hosts to the visiting Georgia Bulldogs. Alabama hasn't been defeated yet and something tells me that nothing will change after this Saturday's game.

And the Bulldogs know that too.

Apparently, the Georgia Bulldogs are so focused for this Saturday's game that they're not letting anybody see them practice for Saban's boys.

''It's the Belichick rule,'' a Georgia official said. ''We've been skunked in the past. We know it because of the way some teams have reacted to our [offensive] plays in a few games. We're trying to make sure it doesn't happen again.''

Will Pennington play for the Jets against the Ravens Sunday?

To say that the Jets had a rather humbling experience to start the season could be an understatement.

The New York Jets were up against their rivals New England Patriots, to start the 2007-08 NFL football season. Jets head coach Eric Mangini, since leaving Patriots coach Bill Belichick in Boston, had this heated rivalry ever since.

That day, the New England Patriots won, 38-14. And as painful as that loss was for the New York Jets, things just got from bad to worse as Jets QB Chad Pennington limped off the football field.

Will Chad Pennington be available for the Jets against the very tough Baltimore Ravens team?

''I have no idea,'' Chad Pennington said, when asked whether he can play the Ravens on Sunday. ''I am sure I will see the doctors frequently this week, and we'll see what happens.''

Reports say that New York Jets QB Chad Pennington is reportedly telling those close to him that he does not think he will play Week 2.

''Chad doesn't think he could play this week,'' an anonymous source said. ''He said the ankle is really sore. He wants to play and he's going to give it a try, but he doesn't think he's going to play.''

As for New Yorl's Sunday rivals, the Baltimore Ravens are coming off a shocking 27-20 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Baltimore's famous defense just couldn't stop wideouts Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh from inhaling those touchdowns.

Expect the Ravens defense to prey on the Jets QB and it won't matter to them if it'll be Chad Pennington or someone else.

Nebraska Cornhuskers play hosts to the USC Trojans Saturday

The No.1 team of the nation, USC Trojans visit the Nebraska Cornhuskers in an attempt to remain on top of the college football food chain.

The No.1 team of the nation this 2007 NCAA college football season, will visit the No.14 ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers in an attempt to repeat the success they had in 2003 and hope this time, it'll be USC who'll be playing in the BCS national championship game.

Back in 2003, the USC Trojans was part of a three-way tug-of-war at the top, along with the Oklahoma Sooners and the LSU Tigers.

The USC Trojans did finish No.1 then but for some reason, ended up No.3 in the final BCS standings. That means, it was the Sooners and the Tigers who played in the BCS title game, which was won by LSU and the Trojans had to settle for the Associated Press title.

Of course, cries of voter fraud came up. After all, why would a team led by the ever-popular Matt Leinart not make one of two spots in the BCS national championship game after leading the rankings to end the regular season?

The Trojans have the Cornhuskers next on Saturday in what should be a good one. John David Booty will probably be leading the Trojan offense. Luckily for him, his backup, Mark Sanchez, is ready for this Saturday's game.

Mark Sanchez is coming off a thumb injury in his right throwing hand. He says he's ready for some action and USC Trojans head coach Pete Carroll is thankful he is.

''Nerf ball to full recovery in one day, we should have done it two weeks ago,'' coach Pete Carroll said.

Felipe Massa going for another F1 win at Monza Sunday

Felipe Massa wants to be the man in Ferrari. The only problem is, he's Brazilian.

Yes, it seems Ferrari doesn't want any Brazilian drivers representing them. Rubens Barrichello, who now competes for Honda, was once a Brazilian driver for Ferrari, playing second fiddle to his more popular teammate Michael Schumacher.

In this 2007 F1 season, Ferrari is in the exact same position, they have another Brazilian playing second fiddle to a more marketable driver. In this case, it's Felipe Massa backing up who's suppose to be Ferrari's ace driver, Kimi Raikkonen.

However, with the way this season has been, and also with how bad Kimi Raikkonen raced so far, the Brazilian backup is leading the more marketable superstar and after Felipe Massa relived the first grand prix win of his career last season by winning in Istanbul again, it definitely looks like Felipe will be going all out to win it all now.

As of press time, Felipe Massa sits third behind the two McLaren drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso. Massa has 69 points while Kimi sits fourth with 68.

Felipe Massa believes that he still has a chance to steal the title away from the two McLaren drivers. With five more races to go and with the 2007 F1 season culminating in his home country Brazil for the final leg, a storybook ending is definitely on Felipe's side now.

The F1 season resumes thus Sunday in Monza, Italy for the 2007 Italian Grand Prix. Felipe Massa is looking good to win back-to-back races after his triumphant return to Istanbul. Of course, he has to outrun the two-headed monster from McLaren first.

Who will win the 2007 F1 championship? Bodog has the odds.

Kimi Raikkonen 7/4

Fernando Alonso 7/4

Lewis Hamilton 9/2

Felipe Massa 5/2

Oklahoma Sooners V Miami Hurricanes Saturday

The Oklahoma Sooners face a rather tough task when they take on the Miami Hurricanes and it doesn't even involve their opponents yet.

Apparently, the Oklahoma Sooners have some sort of a ''QB issue'' heading to the 2007-08 NCAA college football season. Many thought it would be Tommy Grady, then it was Rhett Bomar.

As of press time, Grady will be playing for the Utah Utes while Bomar will suit up for the Sam Houston State Bearkats. So what does that leave the Oklahoma Sooners? Sam Bradford.

A redshirt freshman named Sam Bradford will play QB for them when they go up against the equally talented team of the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday.

Sam Bradford was ''decent'' after making his debut in the 2007-08 NCAA college football season against the North Texas Mean Green. He completed a whopping 21 of 23 passes for a grand total of 363 yards.

He also threw THREE touchdowns en route to a 79-10 destruction of the Mean Green. However, against the Miami Hurricanes defense, I don't think Bradford can come up with the same performance he had in Week 1 against North Texas.

STILL... These guys are the Oklahoma Sooners and betting against this football program always is a bad idea.

Of course, Oklahoma Sooners QB coach Josh Heupel will probably agree.

''For him to come out and play the way he did was encouraging,'' Heupel said. ''He didn't grade out perfect. He graded out extremely well. He took care of the ball. He threw the ball on time.''

''When they were blitzing and he was hit, he got rid of the ball. He knew where to throw. He took shots in the mouth, got himself up and played the next play. Those are things you want to see from a young guy.''
