Is Ronaldo justified for saving Manchester United?

''Why all the controversy? I'm too good,'' that's what Manchester United star, Cristiano Ronaldo, aid following their win over Middlesbrough.

However, that didn't stop Ronaldo's detractors from bad mouthing his penalty kick that propelled Manchester United towards a date with Watford at the 2007 FA Cup Semi Finals.

Apparently, some people thought Cristiano Ronaldo fell to the ground too easily to get the official's attention and kick the penalty shot that gave Man-U the 1-0 win over Middlesbrough.

Of course, Middlesbrough didn't like the call, claiming that Middlesbrough's Jonathan Woodgate went for the ball and not for Ronaldo's leg, earning Man-U the game-winning penalty kick in the process.

The decision to award Cristiano Ronaldo the penalty shot enraged the entire Middlesbrough bench of course. As for Ronaldo? He wasn't sorry.

Cristiano Ronaldo said, ''For me it is a penalty. Why when Cristiano is involved is it always polemic? Of course I felt contact, that is why I slipped. He touched. If he touches me I lose my movement and that is why I go down. He kicked me.''

Of course, watching Manchester United play Watford for a chance to play either Chelsea or Blackburn in the 2007 FA Cup finals is always better than watching Middlesbrough be that closer towards a championship so I'm not complaining.

''We'll go to the semi-finals and I'm happy,'' Cristiano Ronaldo said.

Can Manchester United qualify for the Champions League? Who will win the 2007 Champions League in June? Bodog has the odds.

Chelsea 3/1

Arsenal 10/1

Manchester United 5/1

Liverpool 9/1

Andrew Flintoff banned from 2007 Cricket World Cup

Andrew Flintoff is ashamed, and yes, he should be.

For those of you who don't know who Andrew Flintoff is, he's the England Cricket vice captain who fell off a pedalo and got into difficulties in the water following a drinking session the night before.

Andrew Flintoff said, ''I'm embarrassed and ashamed. It shouldn't have happened. Being left out for these reasons is something I'm upset about and I never want it to happen again.''

The 29-year-old was one of six players fined for a breach of team discipline following the six-wicket defeat to Group C rivals New Zealand.

After leaving a nightclub close to the team's St Lucia hotel, Flintoff got into a pedalo in the early hours and later needed to be rescued after falling off it.

''There's no secret we had a few drinks. It's been documented in the press what happened afterwards with a little bit of poetic license,'' Flintoff told reporters at the hotel.

Flintoff said, ''Hopefully, I get picked on Saturday to play against Kenya. I've had things in my career before when I was younger that I had to come back from.''

Can Andrew Flintoff still help England win the 2007 Cricket World Cup? Who will be the 2007 Cricket World Cup champions? Sports Interaction has the odds:

Australia 2.50

India 8.00

England 9.00

New Zealand 10.00

3 Filipinos in World 8-Ball semis headline Pinoy Sports

9-Ball world champion Ronnie Alcano and his bid to capture another billiards world championship title is still on.

Philippine billiards superstar Ronnie Alcano reached the semi-final round of the World 8-Ball Championship tournament by beating fellow countryman Elvis Calansang at the Al Bashton Hall in Fujairah of the UAE. The reigning 9-ball king will be joined by Dennis Orcollo and Joven Bustamante at the semi finals, keeping an all-Filipino final match at the World 8-Ball tournament still alive.

Dennis Orcollo beat Swede Marcus Chamat, 10-7 while fellow Filipino Joven Bustamante was able to come back after dropping two straight racks to beat German Thomas Engert 10-6.

In the PBA, the Air21 Express edged the Sta. Lucia Realtors, 101-94, taking care of their first assignment in the Talk N Text PBA Fiesta Cup. Former PBL MVP Gary David dropped a game-high 25 points to lead the Air21 Express.

Air21 head coach Bo Perasool couldn't be happier, ''I'm just happy that they stepped up in the end.''

While local standout Gary David took care of the offensive chores for the Express, it was Air21 import Shawn Daniels who took care of business on every other statistical category other than scoring. Daniels grabbed 17 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal to go with his solid 13 points to help his team with the W.

In golf, the Baguio golf team had 145 points to take a commanding 23-point lead in Group 1 of the 19th Philippine Corporate Cup round two at Camp John Hay Golf Club. Rudy Lockey was simply on fire for the hosts as he scored a dazzling 52 point-performance, leading his teammates towards the much-needed win.

Lockey's teammates was as good too, as Goody Ignacio scored 49 points followed by the 44 Romy Tio tallied.

Meanwhile, the qualifying round for the third Philippine Poker Tour Million-Peso Hold'Em Philippine Championship will start tomorrow. The event will be held at the San Mig in Alabang Town Center.

The Philippine Poker Tour Million-Peso Hold'Em Philippine Championship is scheduled every Wednesdays and Fridays.

PPT chairman Reynaldo Gamboa is looking for a Filipino poker champion to join other Filipino sports champions today.

''Now we have Manny Pacquiao in boxing and Bata Reyes and Ronnie Alcano in billiards as world champions. Why not a Filipino world champion in poker?'' Gamboa said.

Efren ''Bata'' Reyes and Ronnie Alcano are indeed world champions in their sport but I can't call Manny Pacquiao a world champion just yet until he beats what boxing considers the undisputed champion in Pacquiao's weight class, Juan Manuel Marquez.
