Sinister Minister Shocks the World

Bob Baffert has, what is turning out to be, one awesome horse racing stable led by Sinister Minister.

Well... In this year's Kentucky Derby prep races to say the least. At home, he has these somewhat ''modest'' wins but once he gets out on the road, his ''ministry'' so to speak, is certainly one to reckon with.

Bob Baffert has put together one solid group of three-year-olds that has been giving him all the Benjamins with each won race. He's a three-time Derby-winning trainer anyway so what do you expect?

Last week, maybe the most sinister horse out of his ministry, Sinister Minister, came away with a shocking win in the Grade 1, $750,000 Blue Grass Stakes.

Yup, no one saw this coming.

Sinister Minister ($19.40) led every step of the 1 1/8 miles before a crowd of 30,660 and crossed the wire 12 3/4 lengths best. The rest of the field was well spread out.

Storm Treasure, a 65-1 longshot, rallied for second, 4 1/2 lengths in front of third-place Strong Contender. Bluegrass Cat was another four lengths back in fourth and was followed, in order, by First Samurai, Seaside Retreat, Sadler's Trick, Little Cliff, and Court Folly.

''We thought with his speed, coming here, he's extremely fast, and Garrett worked him the other day and he was pretty impressed with the way he worked. He worked awesome,'' a very jubilant Bob Baffert said of a six-furlong drill in 1:11 on April 9 at Santa Anita.

''If you want to find out if you belong in the Derby, run against the big boys,'' he added.

The Sixth Straight Rampage of Lawyer Ron

Lawyer Ron solidifies his odds for the coming 132nd Kentucky Derby with sixth straight win.

Lawyer Ron, together with jockey, John McKee, won a whopping $1 million as they galloped their way to victory in the Arkansas Derby, solidifying their spot as favorites in the coming Kentucky Derby, the first of three races for this year's Triple Crown.

Lawyer Ron will bring his undefeated streak to the Kentucky Derby after scoring his sixth straight win. Yes, 72,484 screaming fans at Oaklawn Park all got their money's worth. It was Lawyer Ron's best performance yet.

This win made Lawyer Ron winner of all seven of his dirt starts. He won his maiden on the main track at Keeneland in October, and after picking up checks in two turf starts, he returned to dirt and has reeled off six straight wins.

His streak began on Dec. 9, when he won an optional claiming race at the Fair Grounds meet at Louisiana Downs.

Lawyer Ron went over the $1 million mark in earnings with his victory in the Arkansas Derby. A son of Langfuhr, he is 7 for 14 with earnings of $1,220,008.

Scary.
